The Times website now charging for content
The Times is now charging to access its content online. Will this lead to more news papers doing the same? Who knows, but it's certainly something they hope will work.
The price is £1 for a 24 hour pass or £2 for a week's worth of access.
Does The Times editorial warrant a premium or will users simply go elsewhere? We'll know soon enough.
A while ago, online rating/dating website hotornot.com, went from charging users to a free service. Months later they switched back because of a lack of advertising revenue and the amount of spam placed on the site.
Will The Times have the guts to change back if things don't work out as hoped? Again, we'll know soon enough.
